Weekend

What a wonderful weekend! Ed was full of surprises for my birthday weekend in Charleston. He conned our friend Mike (yes, a dude, and a dude with no children of his own) to babysit Thursday night so that we could go out to dinner with my parents for Mom’s birthday. He and my dad dropped Mom and I off for spa manis and pedis at a wonderful salon. He let me go shopping at the outlets on Saturday. He put together a party for me that night. And, best of all, he surprised me with two of my bestest friends! Rachel lives in Maryland, with her husband Eric, and daughter Avery. Imagine my surprise when they showed up at breakfast Friday morning! Ashley and Marshall live in Richmond, VA so I was shocked again when she showed up during my pedicure! Other local friends showed up and it was great to see them as well, but I only get to see Rach and Ashley a couple of times a year so that was probably the highlight for me. I’m getting teary just thinking about them now! Thank you thank you thank you to Ed and to everyone who helped me celebrate my birthday! I love you all!

The somewhat less fun thing that happened in Charleston…
Henry and Andrew were so excited when we got to the beach house (and were probably somewhat deliriously tired since it was about 10:00 pm) that they were just running around and being a little nuts. Henry climbed up on the top bunk, belly flopped over, and WHAM, hit his mouth on the guard rail. OUCH! There was blood, a busted lip, chipped front teeth that were a little loose and pushed back in a way that they shouldn’t be. Thursday morning, we got in touch with our friend Kim Elvington, who happens to be a pediatric dentist. We made an appointment and Ed took him in yesterday morning. The good news is that there is no nerve damage. The other news is up in the air. There are some dark spots at the gumline that showed up on the x-rays. They could be bruising (no problem) or infection, which may mean they will need to be pulled. Yikes! He goes back right after Christmas so until then we just hold our breath and pray for the best.
